Reports to: Chief Technical Officer

Main purpose: Providing 3rd line support to our software platform.

This is a key role in our service delivery strategy and requires someone with experience in supporting web applications, preferably in a 3rd Line role, with extensive software development experience and in-depth technical knowledge to enable them to own and lead on all support activities.

We’re a software development company, providing recruitment solutions to our clients. The web applications are written in PHP (5.6 and 7.4), using MySQL databases. Many of our clients have dedicated servers and each installation has been heavily configured with bespoke features for individual client requirements. We have a diverse range of systems based on our core product.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support our public and client facing services in a 3rd line capacity.
  • Identify the root cause of issues and plan resolutions.
  • Fix bugs, migrate data and minor enhancements.
  • Investigate incidents at the application and infrastructure level.
  • Work with the dev team to improve the stability and performance of the codebase.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to improve the quality of our service.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the product.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience providing 3rd line support of web applications to a high technical level.
  • Proactive and tenacious approach to investigating and solving problems.
  • Strong technical experience and knowledge of Debian Linux server environments.
  • Relevant experience with the following technologies
    • Strong skills with PHP, JavaScript and Bash.
    • Database management with MySQL
    • Version control (git) and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in the following would be beneficial
    • Apache, HAProxy, Docker, DNS.
    • Configuring cloud-based solutions with EC2, S3, SNS, IAM and Azure AD.
